ISO 7800 is the method for a simple torsion test on metallic wire, defining a controlled way to twist a wire specimen to assess ductility and surface soundness. To match this to your program, talk with our team.
What ISO 7800 Covers
The torsion test twists a length of wire about its axis until a set number of turns or until failure. It reveals ductility, uniformity, and surface or internal defects that a tensile test alone may not show.
How the Test Is Run
A gauge length of wire is clamped at both ends and twisted at a controlled rate, and the number of twists to failure and the fracture appearance are recorded as measures of wire quality.
Preparing Specimens
Straight, undamaged wire lengths gripped without nicking are essential, since a surface flaw starts an early break. To configure wire torsion testing, request a quote.
