ISO 6892-2 is the ISO tensile test method for metallic materials at elevated temperature. It extends the room-temperature method with furnace heating, soak, and temperature control. To set up elevated-temperature tensile testing, talk with our team.
What ISO 6892-2 Covers
The method applies when tensile properties are required above room temperature. It defines how the specimen is heated, held for a uniform soak, and pulled while temperature is held within tolerance across the gauge length.
Temperature Control and Soak
Uniform, stable specimen temperature is the defining requirement. Thermocouples on the gauge section confirm uniformity, and a defined soak ensures the section is through-heated before loading.
Properties Reported
Proof or yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation at the test temperature, captured with high-temperature extensometry.
Preparing Specimens
Specimen ends must suit hot grips and the furnace opening. To configure a high-temperature tensile system, request a quote.
