What ISO 10319 Measures

The wide-width test grips a broad strip of geosynthetic to reduce necking, giving tensile strength and elongation representative of in-service behaviour for geotextiles, geogrids, and related products.

Narrow specimens of geosynthetics neck excessively and understate strength. A wide gripped width constrains lateral contraction, so the measured tensile properties better reflect field performance.
