What ISO 10275 Measures

The n-value quantifies how a flat metal work-hardens through the uniform plastic range, a key indicator of formability for stamping and deep drawing. It is extracted by fitting the plastic region of the tensile curve.

How the Value Is Obtained

A tensile test is run on a flat specimen, and the uniform plastic portion of the true stress-strain data is fitted to a power law to obtain n. Accurate strain measurement across the fitting range is required.
