GB standards are the national standards of China. Those coded GB are mandatory, while GB/T (T for “tuijian”, recommended) are voluntary; both are widely required for materials testing and product qualification in the Chinese market.

A GB/T method sets the specimen, procedure, and reporting used for acceptance and quality control in China, and many are technically aligned with the corresponding ISO standard.
