EN ISO 6508 is the European adoption of the ISO 6508 series for Rockwell hardness testing of metallic materials, widely used for production and incoming inspection. To match this to your program, talk with our team.
What EN ISO 6508 Covers
The Rockwell test presses a diamond cone or ball indenter into the surface in two stages and reads hardness directly from the depth of penetration. Its speed and simplicity make it the workhorse hardness test for production.
Rockwell Scales
Different indenter and force combinations define the Rockwell scales (such as HRC and HRB), each suited to a hardness range and material. The correct scale must match the material and expected hardness.
Why Machine Verification Matters
Rockwell readings depend on accurate forces, a sound indenter, and a precise depth system. Verification to a standard such as GB/T 230.2 keeps results traceable.
Reading the Designation
Cited as EN ISO 6508 with its part and year. Confirm the edition and the Rockwell scale required.
Related Standards
ISO 6506 covers Brinell hardness and JIS Z 2243 is the JIS Brinell method.
