EN 319 is the test method for determining tensile strength perpendicular to the plane of a panel, commonly called internal bond (IB) strength, used for wood-based and similar panels. To match a setup to this test, talk with our team.
What EN 319 Measures
The test pulls a panel sample through its thickness to measure how well the panel holds together internally. Low internal bond indicates weak bonding or a poor core, which affects panel durability and machining.
How the Test Is Run
A square sample is bonded to two loading blocks and pulled perpendicular to the panel faces until it fails within the panel. The maximum load divided by the area gives the internal bond strength.
Preparing Specimens
Accurate sample size and a sound bond to the blocks are essential. To set up internal bond testing, request a quote.
