What EN 1394 Measures
The test loads a GRP pipe ring so that the wall is stressed in the hoop direction, giving the apparent initial circumferential tensile strength. This governs the pressure capacity of GRP pipe.
How the Test Is Run
A ring cut from the pipe is loaded to strain the wall circumferentially until failure, and the strength is calculated from the load and wall geometry.
