Overview
Description
The TensileTurn CNC MINI is the new entry-level model of the TensileTurn family, a compact CNC lathe designed to prepare accurate round tensile specimens in-house. It brings the guided TensileSoft workflow used across the TensileTurn range to labs that prepare round specimens in lower volumes, including QA/QC departments, universities, technical schools and research centers. Operators with no CNC experience produce test-ready specimens to ASTM E8/E8M, ASTM A370, ISO 6892-1, DIN 50125 and EN 10002 by selecting a standard geometry from the library or entering custom dimensions on the touchscreen.Compact Round Specimen Preparation CNC Lathe
The machine is built around a fully enclosed working area with a sliding front door and viewing window, side access doors, an air gun and a flood coolant system with a flexible nozzle and a tank in the base. A Ø100 mm (Ø3.94 in) chuck, 280 mm (11.0 in) between centers and a pneumatic MT1 tailstock hold round blanks up to Ø90 mm (Ø3.54 in) in diameter and 280 mm (11.0 in) long, while the 2.5 kW (3.4 hp) spindle runs from 100 to 3,000 rpm. An 8-position electric turret arrives with all tooling pre-installed and recommended inserts, so the full specimen profile, including threaded ends and cutoff, is completed in one setup. Control comes from a 15.6″ touchscreen built directly into the machine, in the same integrated style as the TensileMill CNC MICRO. TensileSoft runs on a MachMotion controller (M31 MachMotion motion controller) and generates the toolpath automatically from the specimen dimensions, blank size and cutting parameters. Positioning accuracy of ±0.015 mm (±0.0006 in) and repeatability of ±0.010 mm (±0.0004 in)* deliver consistent geometry from one specimen to the next. By bringing round specimen preparation in-house, your lab controls its own testing schedule, removes outsourcing delays and frees the main machine shop for production work. For teams that need standard-compliant round specimens without a dedicated CNC machinist, the TensileTurn CNC MINI is the most accessible way into the TensileTurn family. — Key features include:- Built-in 15.6″ touchscreen controller integrated into the machine enclosure

Does the TensileTurn CNC MINI produce round specimens that meet international standards?
Yes. The TensileTurn CNC MINI prepares round tensile specimens to ASTM E8/E8M, ASTM A370, ISO 6892-1, DIN 50125, EN 10002 and other major standards. Operators select a pre-programmed geometry from the TensileSoft library or enter custom dimensions to match internal procedures. Our team can also help with configuration and certification documentation, and TensileMill CNC facilitates certification services for NADCAP, ISO and ASTM compliance.
Do I need CNC experience to operate the TensileTurn CNC MINI?
No. TensileSoft is designed for operators without CNC programming experience. The operator picks a standard geometry or enters custom dimensions, loads the blank and presses start, and the software generates the toolpath automatically. A password-protected CNC mode remains available for experienced users who want to run their own programs.
What are the electrical requirements for the TensileTurn CNC MINI?
The TensileTurn CNC MINI runs on a 220 V, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz supply, 16 A, with a total connected power of 6 kW. The machine is delivered without a plug and is hard-wired by a licensed electrician to a dedicated circuit. A compressed-air supply is also required for the pneumatic tailstock and the integrated air gun. No facility water line is needed, because the machine runs from its own 30 L internal coolant system. Your CNC consultant confirms the exact breaker size, receptacle and air requirements at quotation, based on your configuration and region.
What training and support do you provide?
Every TensileTurn CNC MINI includes operator training, delivered remotely or on-site depending on your preference, so your team prepares its first specimens with confidence. After installation, our support team assists with setup questions, new specimen geometries and troubleshooting, and every system receives software updates at no additional cost. Service Plans with preventative maintenance and retraining are also available.
What materials can the TensileTurn CNC MINI prepare?
The MINI is designed for the metals most commonly tested in round form, including carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminum and copper alloys, with a recommended material hardness of up to 35 HRC. It accepts round stock up to Ø90 mm (Ø3.54 in) in diameter and 280 mm (11.0 in) long, and produces finished specimens up to 250 mm (9.84 in). Square or rectangular starting material is not supported. For harder or difficult-to-machine materials, send us a sample through our Free Proof of Concept program and we will confirm the results before you order.
What surface finish can I expect on the gauge section?
Surface finish depends on the material, tooling and cutting parameters. TensileSoft separates rough and finish passes and lets the operator set feed per revolution and surface speed, so the finish pass can be tuned for a smooth, consistent gauge section. For applications that require a polished surface, such as fatigue specimens, the MINI can be paired with our TensilePolish solution.
How much space do I need for the TensileTurn CNC MINI?
Overall dimensions are 1,350 × 700 × 1,300 mm (53.1 × 27.6 × 51.2 in) and the net weight is 354 kg (780 lb). The machine stands on its own cabinet base with the coolant tank inside, so no separate bench is required. Allow clearance around the machine for opening the front and side doors and for routine maintenance.
Can I test the TensileTurn CNC MINI on my own material first?
Yes. Through our Free Proof of Concept program, you send us your material and specimen requirements, and we machine a sample set on a TensileTurn system at no charge. We return the specimens with before and after photos and a video of the process, so you can validate dimensions and finish before you invest.
What is included with the TensileTurn CNC MINI?
The MINI is a turnkey system. The standard package includes the machine with built-in 15.6″ touchscreen controller and TensileSoft, the 8-position electric turret delivered with all tooling pre-installed and recommended inserts for preparing tensile specimens, a Ø100 mm 3-jaw chuck, a pneumatic MT1 tailstock, a 30 L water-based flood coolant system with 40 W pump, a toolbox and a wrench set. Installation and operator training are included, and our team helps configure your first standard and custom geometries. A 4-jaw chuck is available as an option; please contact your TensileMill CNC consultant for details. Additional chucks and consumables are available from our online shop.
How does the TensileTurn CNC MINI differ from the TensileTurn CNC Industrial Upgrade?
